Ánanda Suruci has a large organic farm with over 40 varieties of fruit trees and vegetables. It supplies the residents and volunteers with healthy, organic vegetables and provides an example to visitors about farming methods that are better for ourselves and the planet. We also process our fam produce and produce a variety of jams, pickles, coconut chips, turmeric powder etc. We sell these products and our surplus fruit and vegetable to our retreat attendees and visitors.
In 2010 we dug two new ponds and planted over 400 fruit and nut trees. Since then we have planted a further 200 fruit trees. Our most productive trees in the orchard include coconuts, bananas, pineapples, star fruit and mulberries. We are striving to implement both Permaculture and P.R. Sarkar’s Ideal Farming methods of organic farming.
