Work with nature.
Grow for the future.
Permaculture designs productive, sustainable systems by learning from the relationships and patterns of natural ecosystems.

Permanent agriculture. Permanent culture.
A way of seeing.
A way of living.
Bill Mollison and David Holmgren coined the term in 1978. Its original focus on permanent agriculture grew to include permanent culture: the social relationships needed for a truly sustainable way of life.
Rather than treating a garden, a building or a water system in isolation, permaculture looks at how they can support each other. Careful observation comes before intervention.
