The illustrated farm guide

A living library.
Rooted in the soil.

Explore 48 fruit trees, herbs, roots and flowers, with practical notes for growing and caring for them.

These notes began with volunteer Joyce Lee in 2020–2021. The farm continues to evolve, and each season offers something new to observe and learn.

Select a photograph for the plant’s English and Chinese names, growing conditions, pruning, fertilizing, key management and harvest notes. The practical reference sheets are further down the page.

Follow the plant’s growth and harvest cycle when timing work in southern Taiwan. Use mature compost and suitable organic fertilizers; soil and leaf tests help set nutrient amounts for each plant. Keep mulch away from trunks and clear drainage before heavy rain.
